NUROFEN for children from 6 years 100ml
Description: NUROFEN for children from 6 years 100ml
The medicine contains the drug ibuprofen, which belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). These drugs work by changing the body's response to pain, inflammation and high body temperature.
The drug is intended for short-term symptomatic treatment:
- fevers (including post-vaccination fever)
- mild to moderate pain (headache, sore throat, toothache, pain from cuts and bruises).
Method of use
Dosage and dosage schedules
Each 1 ml of suspension contains 40 mg of ibuprofen.
The daily dosage of the drug is 20-30 mg/kg body weight in divided doses. Doses should be given approximately every 6-8 hours.
- 20-29 kg (6-9 years): 5 ml (equivalent to 200 mg ibuprofen) 3 times a day.
- 30-40 kg (10-12 years): 7.5 ml (equivalent to 300 mg ibuprofen) 3 times a day.
Adverse effects can be minimised by administering the lowest effective dose for the shortest time necessary to control symptoms.
The drug is intended for short-term use only. If it is necessary to administer this medicine for more than 3 days or if the symptoms of the disease worsen, it is necessary to consult a doctor.
Method of use
It is necessary to shake the suspension before measuring each dose. A measuring spoon is used to measure out the exact dose. After taking the dose, the spoon is washed in warm water and allowed to dry. For patients with a sensitive stomach, it is recommended that the drug be taken with food. It is necessary to observe the intervals between doses (mentioned above).
Notice
The drug is contraindicated in the third trimester of pregnancy. During the first and second trimesters, the drug should not be given unless clearly necessary (the dose should be as low as possible and the treatment should last as short as possible).
It is usually not necessary to discontinue breastfeeding during short-term use of recommended doses for mild to moderate pain and fever.
Increased caution is needed in elderly patients.
The medicine is not intended for children under 6 years of age and/or weighing less than 20 kg.
The drug is contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic failure, severe renal failure, or severe heart failure (NYHA class IV).
The drug may cause a decrease in female fertility by acting on ovulation (reversible, goes away after treatment is stopped).
Increased caution is needed when taking the drug immediately after major surgery.
Do not drink alcohol.
The drug contains liquid maltitol. Due to the liquid maltitol content, the drug may have a mild laxative effect.
The medicinal product contains 28.09 mg of sodium in 15 ml of suspension (equivalent to 1.87 mg/ml of suspension). To be considered in patients on a sodium-controlled diet.
Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C. After the first opening, the shelf life of the medicine is 6 months.
Further special warnings are given in the SPC (section 4.4).
