The active substance of the drug is oxeladine, which is an antitussive, cough medicine. It is a medicine for the treatment of a difficult, non-productive cough in adults and children over 30 months of age and weighing more than 15 kg. More at adc.sk
Dosage and dosage schedules
Symptomatic treatment should be of short duration (a few days) and is limited by the time the cough is present.
Adults
One 5 ml dose every 4 hours as needed, up to a maximum of 5 doses per day.
Paediatric population
Children from 15 - 20 kg (i.e. approx. 30 months to 6 years)
One dose of 2.5 ml as needed every 4 hours, but no more than 3-4 doses per day according to weight.
Children from 20 - 30 kg (i.e. approximately 6 to 10 years old)
One 5 ml dose every 4 hours as needed, but no more than 2-3 doses per day depending on weight.
Children from 30 - 50 kg (i.e. approximately 10 to 15 years)
One 5 ml dose every 4 hours as needed, but no more than 3-5 doses per day according to weight.
Method of use
The syrup is taken at recommended intervals. The package contains a measuring scoop with a marked volume of 2.5 ml and 5 ml.
Notice
The drug is not recommended during pregnancy.
Due to insufficient data on excretion into breast milk, it is not recommended to take this drug in lactating women.
Due to the lack of efficacy and safety data in children under 30 months of age, it is not recommended to administer this medication to this age group.
The drug contains sucrose.
For a low-sugar diet or diabetes mellitus, the sugar content of 4.25 g in a 5-ml dose and 2.125 g in a 2.5-ml dose should be taken into account.
It is illogical to combine an expectorant or mucolytic with an antitussive.
The drug has no or only a negligible effect on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery.
After the first opening, the medicine can be stored for a maximum of 6 months.
