Kolodium forte is a preparation in the form of a solution for topical use on the affected areas of the skin. It is a faint green viscous liquid with a characteristic smell packaged in a bottle with a cap, a spatula is also included.

Contains

• Turpentine essential oil: it is used in the preparation at 0,16 % (w/w). Purified turpentine essential oil with pine resin contains the terpenes pinene, camphene and limonene. It acts antiseptically, promotes tissue blood supply, increases resorption of pathologically altered tissue and promotes the formation of granulation tissue
• Ethanolic extract from the bough of the swallowwort (chelidonium majus). It is used at 2,2 % (w/w). Swallowwort contains a high amount of alkaloids ( chelidonin, chelidoxanthin) and is used in folk medicine as a wart remover. Alkaloids have antimicrobial and antifungal effects when used externally
• Salicylic acid and lactic acid: these ingredients ensure gentle disruption of the layer of tough, mostly thick skin
• Thuja and castor oil: have tonic effects

Side effects

In rare cases, burning may occur at the application site or irritation may occur when applied to healthy skin.

Use

The preparation is applied in the amount of 2-3 drops twice a day. Apply preferably with a stick on the cap or with a wooden toothpick directly on the affected area. After dripping, the liquid dries quickly and forms a film on the surface of the skin. The application is carried out repeatedly until the cornified skin can be painlessly removed. Before removing the top layer of tissue, it is recommended to immerse the site for five minutes in warm water with the addition of table salt. Dry the site and, if the tissue does not release spontaneously, gently wipe the surface, e.g. with a pumice stone.
