The medicine in the form of soft capsules contains the drug ibuprofen, which belongs to a group of drugs known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). NSAIDs provide relief by changing the body's response to pain, swelling and high body temperature. The drug is absorbed more quickly into the bloodstream and thus quickly reaches the site of pain.

The drug is used to relieve headaches, migraines, toothaches, backaches, menstrual pain, muscle aches, fever, and cold and flu symptoms.

It is also used on the advice of a doctor to relieve pain that is felt along a nerve (neuralgia), swelling and pain in the joints (rheumatic pain), and for less severe joint inflammation (minor arthritis). More at adc.sk

Use

Dosage and dosage schedules

Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age (with a body weight of 40 kg or more):
The recommended dose is in the range of 200-400 mg of ibuprofen, no more than 3 times a day as needed. The interval between doses should be at least 4 hours. The lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest period of time necessary to relieve the symptoms of the disease.
The dose of 1200 mg of ibuprofen should not be exceeded within 24 hours.

Adults should consult a doctor if symptoms of the disease persist or worsen, or if the medicine needs to be taken for more than 10 days.
If adolescents over 12 years of age need to take the medicine for more than 3 days or if the symptoms of the disease worsen, a doctor should be consulted.

Method of use

The capsules are taken at regular intervals, swallowed whole and washed down with plenty of liquid. Capsules are taken with or without food. If taken with or shortly after a meal, the onset of action may be delayed. However, taking it with food improves the tolerability of the drug and reduces the likelihood of gastrointestinal upset.

Notice

In the third trimester of pregnancy, the drug is contraindicated. In the first and second trimesters of pregnancy, the drug must not be given unless absolutely necessary (the dose must be as low as possible and the duration of treatment as short as possible).
In the period of breastfeeding, the drug can be used only after consulting a doctor.
COX inhibitors may cause a decrease in female fertility by acting on ovulation (reversible, resolves after discontinuation of treatment).
In children under 12 years of age and in children with a body weight of less than 40 kg, the drug is contraindicated.
Increased caution is needed in elderly patients.
The drug is contraindicated in patients with severe liver failure, severe renal failure, or severe heart failure (NYHA Class IV).
Careful consideration is required before initiating long-term treatment of patients with risk factors for cardiovascular events (e.g. hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, diabetes mellitus, smoking), particularly if high doses of ibuprofen (2 400 mg daily) are required.
Do not drink alcohol.
The drug may cause a photosensitivity reaction (frequency of occurrence unknown).
The drug contains sorbitol.
The drug contains 32 mg of potassium in one softgel.
Store at temperatures up to 25 °C in the original packaging to protect from light.
Further special warnings are given in the SPC (section 4.4).
