The medicine contains the drug levodropropisin, which belongs to a group of medicines called antitussives (cough suppressants). It suppresses coughs induced by histamine, serotonin and bradykinin.
It is used in adults, adolescents, and children 2 years of age and older to treat the symptoms of dry cough (nonproductive cough).
Included in the package is a measuring cup with a capacity of 25 ml. More at adc.sk
Dosage and dosage schedules
Adults and adolescents over 12 years
1 dose (10 ml oral solution) up to 3 times daily. There must be an interval of 6 hours between doses.
Children aged 2 to 12 years
Total daily dose of 0.5 ml oral solution per kg body weight divided into 3 individual doses with an interval of at least 6 hours between each dose.
In specifically justified cases, the total daily dose may be increased to 1 ml of oral solution per kg body weight.
Individual and daily doses according to the weight of the child are given in the table in the SPC, section 4.2.
Duration of treatment
The drug should be used until the cough disappears, but the maximum duration of treatment is 7 days.
If the cough persists or worsens, the patient should contact the doctor.
Method of use
The dose of the oral solution is measured using the provided measuring cup and the solution is drunk (may be washed down with water). It is recommended to take between meals.
Notice
It must not be used in case of productive cough (sputum-producing cough).
The drug is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
The drug is contraindicated for children under 2 years.
In elderly patients, the drug must be dosed with caution.
It must not be used in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
In patients with severe renal impairment, the drug should be used only after very careful consideration of the benefit-risk ratio.
The drug is contraindicated in patients with reduced mucociliary function (Kartagener syndrome, ciliary dyskinesia).
The drug may alter reaction times so that the ability to drive or operate machinery is impaired.
