The drug live probiotic cultures of the yeast Saccharomyces boulardii and is used for the treatment and/or prevention of diarrhea of various causes such as:

• acute infectious diarrhea in children and adults,
• colitis and diarrhea due to antibiotic use,
• combination therapy with vancomycin/metronidazole, used for the preventive treatment of recurrent disease caused by Clostridium difficile,
• preventive treatment of diarrhea induced by enteral tube feeding,
• treatment of diarrhoea associated with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome
• treatment of irritable bowel syndrome,
• treatment of traveler's diarrhea.

Method of use

Dosage and dosage schedules

The recommended daily dose is 50 mg 4 times a day to 250 mg 4 times a day, in cases of diarrhea associated with enteral tube feeding or AIDS, daily doses may be increased up to 3,000 mg/day

Unless otherwise directed by a physician, they are taken:
- adults 2 bags 2x a day.
- children from 3 years 1 sachet 2 times a day.
- children aged 0-3 years 1 sachet once a day.

The medicine can be taken for a few more days after the diarrhoea is over.
If the patient does not feel better or feels worse within 2 days, he or she must contact the doctor.

Method of use

The contents of the sachet are mixed with a small amount of water or sweetened drink and drunk. The powder can also be mixed with food. It must not be mixed with very hot (above 50 °C), iced or alcoholic beverages or food.

Due to the risk of airborne contamination, bags should not be opened in patient rooms. Healthcare providers should use gloves when handling probiotics, which must then be disposed of immediately and hands washed thoroughly.

Notice

The drug may be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding only after careful consideration of the benefit of treatment and its risk to the fetus.
Diarrhea in children under 2 years of age must be treated under the supervision of a doctor.
If there is blood in the stool or fever, it is necessary to seek medical attention.
During treatment, it is necessary to follow a dietary regimen and take sufficient fluids, if necessary, consider rehydration of the body. Treatment is not a substitute for rehydration when needed.
Do not drink alcohol.
The drug contains lactose and fructose.
Store protected from moisture at temperatures up to 25 °C.
