The drug is used against excessive acidity of gastric juice (as an antacid). It contains pharmaceuticals which reduce the acidity of the stomach contents by their strong neutralising effect on hydrochloric acid, responsible for the acidity of the stomach contents. The drug is indicated for heartburn and for the penetration of acidic stomach contents back into the esophagus (gastroesophageal reflux).
Method of use
Dosage and dosage schedules
Adults and children from 15 years of age:
1-2 tablets are given for heartburn or reflux. A maximum of 6 doses per day can be taken. The daily dose must not exceed 12 tablets.
If the patient does not feel better or feels worse within 10 days, he or she must contact the doctor.
Method of use
Chewable tablets are sucked or chewed before swallowing. The drug should not be washed down with citrus fruit drinks.
Notice
During pregnancy, the drug can be used only if it is necessary, for a short time and not in high doses.
The drug is not intended for children and adolescents under 15 years of age.
Patients who are elderly, have renal impairment, bowel disorders (diarrhea, constipation, colonic stricture), or disorders of phosphorus and magnesium levels in the blood may take the drug only on the express recommendation of a physician.
Long-term use of antacids should be avoided in patients with renal failure.
For porphyria patients undergoing haemodialysis, the aluminium hydroxide contained in the drug may be dangerous.
The drug may interfere with the absorption of some medicines. It is necessary to observe a time interval when taking a drug that reacts with an antacid of at least 2 hours (4 hours for fluoroquinolones).
The drug contains sorbitol and maltitol and sodium.
