Description: Dulcolax 1×40 pcs, drug

The drug contains bisacodyl, a locally acting laxative that induces stimulation of colonic peristalsis and softens the stool. The drug is used:

• in patients suffering from constipation
• in preparation for diagnostic examinations, pre- and post-operative treatment and in conditions where it is necessary to facilitate voiding

Method of use

Dosage and dosage schedules

In constipation

Adults and children 10 years and older: 1-2 tablets (5-10 mg) daily. It is recommended to start with the lowest dose. The dose may be adjusted up to the maximum recommended dose to keep stools regular. The maximum daily dose should not be exceeded.
Children from 2 to 10 years: 1 tablet once a day. The maximum daily dose should not be exceeded.

Preparation for diagnostic examination and pre-operative preparation

The drug should be administered only under the supervision of a physician.
Adults: the recommended dose is 2 tablets 2 times a day (morning and evening). The following morning, a laxative that induces immediate voiding (e.g. suppository) is recommended.
Children from 4 years: the recommended dose is 1 tablet in the evening. The following morning, a child laxative that induces immediate voiding (e.g. suppository) is recommended.

The laxative effect will become apparent between 6 - 12 hours after administration of the drug.

The drug is intended for short-term treatment, it should not be taken daily or long-term without determining the cause of constipation.

Method of use

Gastro-resistant tablets are taken at regular intervals, always taken whole, well before meals (at least 15-20 minutes) and washed down with sufficient fluid. Do not take with mineral waters, dairy products, and do not take with antacids or proton pump inhibitors. It is recommended to take the tablets in the evening before bedtime.

Notice

During pregnancy, the drug can be taken only after consulting a doctor.
The drug can be taken while breastfeeding.
Children under 10 years of age with chronic or persistent constipation should only be treated under the supervision of a doctor.
The drug can cause dehydration, taking the drug in patients with severe dehydration is contraindicated.
The drug is contraindicated in patients with ileus, intestinal obstruction, acute abdominal episodes, including appendicitis.
adequate fluid intake should be ensured during treatment.
When taking the drug, as a result of constipation-related abdominal cramps, dizziness may occur less frequently and, rarely, syncope. If patients develop abdominal cramps, activities such as driving vehicles or operating machinery should not be performed.
Patients may experience blood in the stool during treatment, this condition is usually temporary and resolves on its own.
The drug contains lactose and sucrose.
